The mission of peace in the Asian region through instilling character values ​​and transferring local wisdom resonates at the Ganesha University of Education. This was realized through a public lecture which was a collaboration between the Eurasia Foundation and the Sociology Education Study Program, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Undiksha. This public lecture, attended by lecturers and students, was opened.

This public lecture carries the theme “Ethnoscience and Local Wisdom and Local Wisdom in Asia”. This big theme is a theme that is based on the idea that local science in Asia and its local wisdom can greet each other and be equal to each other. There are two objectives formulated through this public lecture. First, we want to invite lecturers and students to broaden their scientific horizons based on the existence of local sciences from the Asian region and local wisdom that is embedded in the sociocultural system in Asian society. Second, we want to invite lecturers and students to raise awareness of how important it is to instill character values ​​based on ethnoscience and local wisdom.

Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Dr. Luh Putu Sendratari, M.Hum said that the choice of theme was inseparable from the mission of the Eurasia Foundation, namely to participate in instilling peace in the Asian region through instilling character values ​​and transferring knowledge through universities.

This public lecture will run until June 2024 by presenting 16 speakers from Asia and various universities in Indonesia, including from the Eurasia Foundation.

In this first public lecture, the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd was the resource person. He presented the material “Tri Hita Karana Local Wisdom to Create a Superior Generation in Asia”. The point conveyed is that being a superior generation is not just about being the greatest in a group or group. But more than that, it can be a trendsetter or example for others. No less important is having a good attitude in establishing a relationship with God, relationships with others, and relationships with the environment as stated in the Tri Hita Karana philosophy. If implemented well, it is believed that this university-based philosophy can be an introduction to creating a superior generation in Asia.

In his capacity as Chancellor, he also welcomed the holding of this public lecture, especially with the presence of resource persons who had experience at the international level. It is hoped that this will inspire other study programs and faculties to initiate similar activities.
