Singaraja- Encouraging news came again from Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) students for their success in becoming second place(Silver Medal) in international level events Youth Invention and Innovation Award 2021 the series will take place from 16 July to 21 August 2021. In this event, the Undiksha team consisted of Gede Sandita Widada from the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program, Kadek Reda Setiawan Suda who is an alumni of Electrical Engineering Education, Luh Putu Restu Adi Utami from the English Language Education Study Program ( S2), Komang Putrayasa from the Legal Studies Study Program, and I Gede Ardi Darmawan from the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program. This team successfully competed with teams from 35 countries, such as the United States, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Thailand, and others.
In an event organized by Yogyakarta State University (UNY) in collaboration with the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA), the Undiksha team led by Sandita Widiada presented a work entitled “Matic-Kumbung” Temperature and Humidity Control Device which is a tool to help farmers maintain the temperature and humidity of mushroom growers, so that it can be done without manual (human) control. This student, who was born in Banyuning, Buleleng, said that this innovation was made because of complaints from oyster mushroom farmers in Karangasem Regency, specifically in Banyakem Village. “The impact that farmers feel every day is that from 1000 media cultivated, only 10-20 baglogs grow mushrooms with an average harvest of 1 baglog of 0.2 kilos. “So, every day farmers harvest 2-4 kilos of oyster mushrooms per day which should be 20-40 kilos,” he said, Wednesday, (8/9/2021).
Apart from that, it is said that the quality of the oyster mushroom harvest is also not good. That’s why he and his team were inspired to create this tool. “With this tool, no human power is needed to regulate temperature and humidity, and also increases the quality and quantity of oyster mushroom harvest,” he added. This student who was born on September 7 admitted that his success in achieving this achievement could not be separated from the role of his mentor, Dr. Nyoman Santiyadnya, S.Si., M.T. “With this achievement, we are very happy and feel the struggle starting from the intention to help oyster mushroom farmers, it turns out that our work is appreciated at the international level,” he explained.
This achievement was appreciated by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd. “We at the leadership are very proud that this pandemic has not become an obstacle for students to continue to excel. Hopefully, this will increase motivation for other students to continue working. Likewise, lecturers can be more enthusiastic about guiding,” he said. He emphasized that this achievement is not only important for the university, but is also able to increase individual competitiveness. (hms)
