Singaraja- The SMS Link innovation initiated by Undiksha students has again achieved success. This time it was from the Indonesia International Applied Science Olympiad competition which took place in Surabaya from 11 to 14 December 2021. This work won a gold medal.
In this prestigious competition, the Undiksha team consisted of Putu Pipit Pricellia Eka Putri from the Legal Studies Program, Ayu Yuli Sumidianti from the Accounting Study Program (S-1), Komang Yuda Wiryanata from Electrical Engineering Education, I Gede Adi Darmawan from Electrical Engineering Education, and Kadek Reda Setiawan Suda, Undiksha alumni.
Pipit Pricellia Eka Putri explained that Link SMS is an electrical control device that can turn electricity on or off based on SMS. This innovation is an effort to anticipate electrical short circuits that could potentially trigger fires. “Considering that people’s mobility is currently high and filled with busy activities, they often forget to control the electrical appliances in their homes. This is what can trigger a fire. “So, with this electrical control device in the form of an SMS LINK, we no longer need to worry if we forget to turn off the house’s electrical appliances,” he explained when confirmed, Tuesday (21/12/2021).
Facing this competition, his team not only prepared works. But you also have to write written work in English and prepare presentation materials. “When explaining to the jury, we have to prepare ourselves to explain it also using English, by understanding the material well, making short notes, and describing the advantages of the tools we present,” he said.
The competition was attended by 280 teams from 14 countries. The achievements achieved are a source of pride for the team. “We are of course very proud to get the Gold Medal during the awards because during this pandemic we can still compete and feel the euphoria of offline competitions again. “We are proud to be able to fly the Undiksha flag on a magnificent stage and side by side with well-known universities,” he added.
Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for this achievement. “We are very proud of this achievement, especially at the international level,” he said. He hopes that this achievement will further raise the enthusiasm of Undiksha students to compete, especially at the international level. “We at the leadership are committed to supporting students who want to compete,” he added.
