Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) through the Legal Sciences Study Program, Department of Law and Citizenship, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences (FHIS) held a public lecture with the theme “Legal Sociological Study of Radicalism and Terrorism”, Tuesday (25/10/2022).
This public lecture presented PLH Head of the Buleleng District Prosecutor’s Office, Soesilo, S.H., M.H., as a resource person, accompanied by the Head of Intelligence at the Buleleng District Prosecutor’s Office Anak Agung Ngurah Jayalantara as moderator. Students from the Undiksha Department of Law and Citizenship attended this public lecture.
On this occasion, Soesilo expressed his appreciation for Undiksha’s collaboration, especially with the Law Science Study Program, in organizing this activity. Specifically for the topic presented, it was emphasized that radicalism and terrorism are acts that violate the law. This action should be watched out for and resisted by all levels of society, including students, by strengthening understanding of the values of Pancasila.
He further stated that universities have an extraordinary role in preventing radicalism and terrorism, especially in the legal studies program where students have received anti-terrorism courses. “University support for legal sociology studies of radicalism and terrorism is extraordinary,” he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Undiksha Law and Citizenship Department, Dr. Dewa Gede Sudika Mangku, S.H., LL.M., said that this public lecture activity was the second time carried out by the Legal Studies Study Program together with the Buleleng State Prosecutor’s Office. This activity is a space to provide information and experience to students, especially in semester V, regarding the law enforcement process for perpetrators of radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia. “As explained earlier, he was very involved in handling major terrorism-related cases,” he explained.
Apart from this public lecture, previously the Undiksha Legal Studies Study Program also held a public lecture on law enforcement through restorative justice. Through this activity, students not only gain theoretical knowledge but also practical knowledge because the resource person presented is a practitioner. (hms)
