Singaraja- Another proud achievement was made by Ganesha University of Education students. This time it came from the eventEducational Law Content which was organized by the Association for the Love of Learning, Faculty of Law, University of North Sumatra. The Undiksha team consists of Komang Citra Pratiwi, Nyoman Asri Mahadhyaksa, and Kadek Duwi Suryantini who are students of the Legal Sciences Study Program, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences.
In the competition which took place on September 11, 2021, Citra and her friends succeeded in bringing home first place after competing with 14 other participants from several universities in Indonesia. At this event, this 3rd-semester student explained that they made a video work entitled “Be Aware by Using Social Media” which is motivated by the many legal cases that occur in the current era, such as cases of defamation, corruption, and waste pollution. “With the competition, we from the Undiksha team intend to take part in the competition and choose the theme of defamation,” said Citra as team coordinator, Wednesday (15/09?2021).
The choice of this theme, she continued, is because in the current digital era, many people use social media and sometimes when using social media, many people do not sort out the words or comments they write, which can cause defamation for someone. “In this day and age, being your finger is your tiger. Here we also argue that the relevant laws are regulated in the Criminal Code as well as the ITE Law, which few people know about, so we hope that by choosing this theme, apart from us as a team, other friends can also learn and more aware in the use of social media,” she explained.
This student, who was born in 2002, does not deny that during the work preparation process, he encountered a few difficulties because the preparation time was only one week and he had no supervisor. Apart from that, this student from Banjar District, Buleleng said that his team also lacked experience in making short films so it took quite a lot of time and caused pessimism about winning the competition. “We lack experience in manufacturing film It’s short so it takes quite a bit of time to learn how to make plots film short, intake angle video, and video editing. “This also made our team a little pessimistic about being able to win the competition, especially seeing that the video content made by other participants was very varied and educational,” she recalled.
However, thanks to the efforts and hard work they have done, as well as the support of friends, and lecturers in the Department of Law and Citizenship who always provide motivation, they succeeded in winning first place. “Even though we didn’t use mentors in this competition, we “I am grateful that the lecturers at the Department of Law and Citizenship, especially the Head of the Department, always provide enthusiasm and motivation for us to continue working,” she said.
This student with the zodiac sign Gemini also stated that through this competition he gained a lot of extraordinary knowledge and experience. In the future, he hopes to be able to contribute again to take part in competitions with more confidence and to make the department, faculty, and university proud. “So, to all my friends, never be afraid to try, be a student who is creative, innovative, critical, and brave to create new and different,” she stressed.
Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm for taking part in the competition and being able to win. “This spirit is what is important. Students can create creative ideas and take part in competitions. That’s good, especially if you can win. Our leadership appreciates it,” he said.
