Singaraja– Commemorating Youth Pledge Day amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Law and Citizenship Department Student Association (HMJ) at Ganesha Education University held an RWP (Reading Writing Playing), on Wednesday (28/10/2020).
This activity is a routine work program of HMJ Law and Citizenship which targets elementary schools and/or orphanages. This form of community service program consists of social service including socialization, playing while learning, and providing social assistance which was previously raised through donations and financial assistance from DIPA, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Undiksha.
This time, the activity targeted the Ananda Seva Dharma Orphanage, Sangsit Village, Buleleng Regency. This activity, which directly involved orphanage children, had the theme “Empowering Youth Against Drugs with National Insight”. Through this theme, it is hoped that orphanage children who are teenagers and growing up will be able to understand the importance of national insight to become the nation’s next generation of youth who are anti-drugs.
This activity was officially opened by the Head of the Law and Citizenship Department, Dr. Dewa Gede Sudika Mangku, S.H., LL.M. He also handed over social assistance in the form of hand sanitizer, medical masks, soap, necessities, and stationery as well as reading books to the Chair of the Anandha Seva Dharma Orphanage Foundation, accompanied by the Coordinator of the Legal Studies Program, Ni Putu Rai Yuliartini S.H., M.H, Chair of HMJ Law and Citizenship and Chair of the Committee.
The socialization session related to this activity presented two resource persons who were students of the Undiksha Legal Studies program, namely Kadek Teguh Werdi as the 2019 Planning Generation (Genre) Ambassador and Ni Made Celin Darayani as the 2020 Undiksha Princess. Teguh Werdi’s presentation of material discussed National Insight. It was conveyed that national insight must be cultivated from an early age to prepare young people who would be the nation’s next generation who love their homeland. Therefore, awareness is needed to love our homeland more, one of which is by increasing literacy activities (reading books). “Because one proof of love for one’s country is making Indonesia develop. “The progress of a country can be assessed from the reading interest of its citizens,” she explained.
Next, the presentation of material by Celin Darayani discussed the urgency of drugs among teenagers. It was conveyed that Indonesian youth as agents of change must create a positive environment and not fall into drugs. “Prevention is better than cure” is the right thing to instill and nurture from an early age. Because young people are the relay for nation-building, it is better to turn to contributing to the country rather than wasting time having fun with things that will be detrimental to the future.
Playing while learning sessions ranged from quizzes with prizes, and games to hone concentration to building cooperation and a sense of family, filled with joy and laughter from the committee with the orphanage children. The enthusiasm of the orphanage children was visible in participating in this entire series of activities. The activity was officially closed by the Head of the Law and Citizenship Department, Dewa Sudika Mangku, and continued with giving mementos to all the orphanage children. “Hopefully our intentions, efforts, and sincerity today can become provisions for the future and be useful as they should be,” he said. This activity also received a very good response from the Chair of the Anandha Seva Dharma Orphanage Foundation when he conveyed his impression and message “Hopefully through this activity, we can create future young people who are the hope of the nation,” she concluded.
