SINGARAJA-fajarbali.com l Seasoned academic Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd, exactly 53 years old, on February 21, 2020.
This man, who was born in Bangli, on 21 February 1967, is considered capable of catapulting the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) Singaraja to the national and even international stage. Currently, Lasmawan holds the position of Deputy Chancellor II Undiksha.
According to his colleague, who also serves as Chair of the Department of Law and Citizenship, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences (FHIS) Undiksha, Dr. Dewa Gede Sudika Mangku, SH., LL.M., Prof. Lasmawan is one of the best sons Bali has. “He (Prof. Lasmawan), is not only a colleague but also my senior and role model teacher,” said Dewa Sudika Mangku, when confirmed from Denpasar, yesterday.
Since serving as Deputy Chancellor II Undiksha, continued Dewa Mangku, Prof. Lasmawan, has succeeded in bringing change to Undiksha. One of them was the successful implementation of Basic Training (Latsar) for Civil Servant Candidates (CPNS) Group III at the Jinang Dalem Campus, Undiksha.
Dewa Mangku continued, that because of his character, Prof. Lasmawan is also trusted to serve as Chair of the Vice Chancellor II Forum for State Universities (PTN) throughout Indonesia. “Of course, this is an extraordinary achievement for Undiksha and Bali in general,” added this international law practitioner.
While serving as Chair of the Indonesian Deputy Chancellor’s Forum II, he said, Prof. Lasmawan has also carried out many great and useful activities. One of them is the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) which took place at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), South Kalimantan, on 14-16 February 2020.
“He paid serious attention to the free learning and independent campus program promoted by the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Nadiem Makarim,” he continued.
According to Prof. Lasmawan, the independence promoted this time is more about how universities are “independent” in planning, managing, and being accountable for aspects of planning, finance, administrative services, and human resources.
What has been proclaimed and regulated in the regulation regarding independent campuses should be broken down further so that it touches on the current problems in the world of higher education.
“If things relating to the opening of study programs, accreditation, strengthening graduate competencies, and the form of higher education legal entities have been actually and stated to be regulated in the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation, then other aspects which have not been stated in the regulation, must be able to be dissected and implemented. “as desired by our Minister,” said Prof. Lasmawan, at that time.
Furthermore, said Prof. Lasmawan, in principle, the forum strongly agrees and supports what has been ‘declared’ by the Minister of Education and Culture. This policy is considered to be truly a whip for universities to be able to ‘survive’ and move forward in terms of achievement and quality amid the world revolution in all its dimensions.
“To dissect this big theme, we have invited 3 related sources, namely the Minister of Education and Culture, the director of PK-BLU, and the Head of the Human Resources Bureau of the Ministry of Education and Culture. “However, the Minister was unable to attend, so we will only listen to 2 sources and discuss the meaning of independence concerning the management of higher education,” he explained.
It is also believed that the policy rolled out by the Minister of Education and Culture will be a big leap in the management of higher education. Therefore, Lasmawan invited us to stop discussing concepts and vocabulary, focusing more on thinking intelligently and working without limits to support such brilliant central government policies.
At the end, Dewa Sudika Mangku, SH., LL.M., wished Prof. Dr. Lasmawan, M.Pd. “Hopefully we will continue to provide positive energy and smart thoughts for a better Undiksha. Swaha,” he concluded. rl
