Singaraja- More and more Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) students are making achievements. This time, the proud achievement came from Ida Ayu Komang Sriutami. This Legal Studies Study Program student was crowned as the Princess of Indonesian Tourism Charm, whose election took place from 16-18 June 2021.
She, who represented Bali, had to compete with 33 of the best girls from various provinces in Indonesia. The journey was not immediately smooth. He did not get support from her parents. The reason was that she came home late at night and auditioned in Jakarta, which required quite a lot of money. This did not immediately discourage her. Her convincing attitude and motivation for achievement continued to be demonstrated until finally, he was able to melt her parents. Participation in this prestigious event is balanced with increased knowledge and understanding of tourism and strategies to improve the economy during the pandemic. She also had to undergo quarantine and follow a series of stages before reaching the final.
“The selection starts from the catwalk, height, good looks, attitude, and insight,” she said when confirmed, Saturday (26/6/2021).
Apart from the proud achievements, through this event, the student who is familiarly called Tami also gained experience building relationships with participants from various regions and learned to manage study and work time. “This is an impressive experience for me. “From this, I learned a lot and came to know what the participants’ cultures were, their different traits and habits,” she said.
This achievement took time to make him complacent. Achieving achievements in other events, both national and international levels, is still his target. No less importantly, it will continue its mission to participate in building a better tourism sector. “I want to introduce and improve the current way of developing and promoting tourism,” said this second-semester student.
According to her, there are still several things that need to be improved in the tourism sector. A small example given is the issue of retribution levies, which there are still indications of being illegal. Apart from that, it also concerns the cleanliness and quality of managing human resources which must be improved. “Tourist destinations need regulations to maintain their sustainability and cleanliness, and there are no more clay fees that make tourists reluctant to visit,” she said.
Regarding tourism promotion strategies, he believes that information technology can be used which has a very broad reach. “You can also hold discounts and bazaars to attract tourists,” she said.
Dara from Seririt, Buleleng also invited the public to always implement health protocols at every tourist attraction. “In this pandemic era, tourists are afraid. “However, the protocols guaranteed and the comfort of the place will attract tourists,” she added.
Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for this achievement. It is hoped that it can be a motivation for other students to carve out similar things. “We want more and more Undiksha students to excel. “This is to increase individual competitiveness and also have a positive impact on the university,” he said.
