Singaraja, located in the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Ganesha Education University, on Thursday, November 4, 2021, another workshop was held with the theme “Discussion of Proposals for the Bachelor of Social Sciences Education Study Program, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Ganesha Education University”. The aim of holding this workshop is to perfect the Proposal for the Bachelor of Social Sciences Education Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Ganesha Education University. This activity was opened by the Deputy Dean III of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, namely I Putu Ananda Citra, S.Pd., M.Sc. and guided by Mr. I Wayan Pardi, S.Pd, M.Pd. who is a lecturer in the Department of History, Sociology, and Libraries, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Ganesha University of Education. This workshop also invited two speakers, namely Dr. I Nengah Suastika, M.Pd. who is Deputy Dean I of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Ganesha Education University, and Drs. Gede Suyasa, M.Pd as Regional Secretary of Buleleng Regency. This activity was attended by representatives of junior high school teachers throughout Singaraja City whose numbers were under the health protocols. In the workshop, I Nengah Suastika explained the proposal for a social studies education study program because he saw that there was no social studies education undergraduate study program in universities in the provinces of Bali, NTB, and NTT. Meanwhile, social studies education is one of the study programs required to become a teacher candidate who teaches social studies in junior high schools. THE PROPOSING TEAM for the Bachelor of Science Education Study Program has prepared a proposal that includes requirements for the proposal, such as a curriculum with nuances of Balinese culture and the Tri Hita Karana philosophy. Preparing human resources who meet the requirements and are qualified for the social sciences field. So, with the existence of the Social Sciences Education Study Program, it is hoped that it will be able to meet the needs of social studies teachers in junior high schools. Gede Suyasa in this workshop explained the policies and needs of social studies teachers. Opportunities for Bachelor of Science Education Teachers in schools, especially in junior high schools, can be seen from the data in Buleleng. Teachers who teach social studies in junior high schools do not have social studies qualifications but are from the Civics, Economics, History, and Sociology majors, so this is an opportunity for the formation of a Social Sciences Education Study Program so that the formation of teachers who are linear with social studies learning. In the workshop, Gede Suyasa also gave suggestions that the curriculum must adapt to changes, if teachers use the old curriculum, teachers will be out of date because students learn faster from social media, especially during a pandemic like this, teachers must be smart in using technology as a medium. learning. On this occasion, a discussion session was also held between teachers and resource persons. In the discussion, the Regional Secretary of Buleleng Regency also emphasized that in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, the role of teachers in education, especially social studies teachers, is very important. Teachers are not only tasked with transferring knowledge but are also tasked with transferring morals/character to students. Drs. Gede Suyasa, M.Pd., who also served as Head of the District Education Office. Buleleng also suggests that social studies teachers and the social studies curriculum that will be prepared must be adaptive to developments in science, and able to equip students with technology so that the graduates produced will be able to become creative and innovative teachers in packaging social studies learning in junior high schools. At the end of this workshop activity, it was closed by handing over mementos by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences to two resource persons who provided their materials and a group photo.
