Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) students once again crowned champions. This time from the Solo Pop Competition throughout Bali which was held by Warmadewa University, Denpasar on June 26, 2022.
Three Undiksha representatives managed to win championships. Among them, 1st place in Solo Pop Men was won by Komang Dandi Permana Yudha from the Law Science study program. He performed Judika’s song entitled What If I’m Not Okay, which managed to amaze the jury. He said that he chose this song because it had a high tone and level of difficulty. “I want to give a surprise to the jury as one of the points achieved in the competition,” he said, Monday (27/6/2022).
This student from Singaraja admitted that he was interested in taking part in the competition because he wanted to hone his singing skills and gain experience. This event was the first he participated in at the Bali level, but previously he had won at the Regency and Undiksha levels.
Apart from the Men’s Solo Pop category, Undiksha also managed to win 1st place in the Women’s Solo Pop category which was presented by Ni Komang Ary Dharma Pertiwi from the Family Welfare Education Study Program. This student, who is familiarly called Ary, performed singer Yura Yunita’s song entitled Must Be Happy. The song was chosen because it suited his vocal character. “The song easy listening “So I hope that with the songs I present, the audience will enjoy listening to them,” she explained. This event is not the first time he has participated. Finally, she took part in the Bali Pop Radio Star event and became 1st Runner-up.
On the other hand, Olga Cristiana from the English Education study program also showed off in the female pop solo category and won 3rd place with Mahalini’s song Sisa Rasa. Similar to Ary, this student from Gerokgak Village, Buleleng Regency has also often participated in events like this. Finally, in 2021, he succeeded in becoming the favorite champion in an event organized by one of the local Bali TV stations. The success of Undiksha students is certainly inseparable from 2 weeks of preparation, under the guidance of coach Dr. Kadek Wirahyuni, S.Pd., M.Pd.
Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Public Relations, and Alumni Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for this achievement. He invited students to continue to hone their skills and then be able to take part in national and international competitions. (hms)
