Bangli, on Saturday, 06 August 2022, DPM, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Ganesha Education University carried out Socialization and Training on Honey Bee Cultivation in Pengejaran Village, Kintamani, Bangli. In this activity, there were two speakers, namely Dr. Made Sugi Hartono, S.H., M.H., a lecturer at the Legal Studies Program at Ganesha Education University and forest conservation activist, and I Wayan Suwena a practitioner and entrepreneur in honey bee cultivation.
The activity was opened by Perbekel Pengjaran Village Wayan Arta, “Through this activity, we hope that the community can understand the existing regulations related to forest management and utilization and that people living around forest areas can get economic benefits from forests, one of which is through cultivation honey bee,” he concluded.
Resource person Dr. Made Sugi Hartono, S.H., M.H., delivered material regarding the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number.77/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/10/2019 concerning the Utilization of Non-Wood Forest Products in Production Forests and the Collection of Non-Wood Forest Products On State Forests, and Pursuit Village Regulation Number 6 of 2020 concerning the Establishment of the Sumber Wana Forest Management Institution in Pursuit Village. “The forest in Pengjaran Village is a source and support for life for the people around the village and people outside the village. “Therefore, don’t let this forest experience damage because destroying the forest means slowly killing the flora and fauna as well as the people around it,” he said.
Meanwhile, I Wayan Suwena explained in detail the advantages/benefits if the people in Pengjaran Village seriously engaged in honey bee cultivation, both economic benefits and environmental benefits. He also explained the steps that must be taken by the community in cultivating honey bees, as well as the prospects for the honey market in Bali.
This activity is a series of activities in the context of implementing the Ormawa Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) which was initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. I Wayan Pardi, S.Pd., M.Pd., as Supervisor emphasized “This activity is a real action of students in helping the community to increase honey productivity, preserve forests, and increase the community’s economic income through Cultivating Forest Honey Bees Based on Appropriate Technology ”.
In the future, through assistance provided by Undiksha students, lecturers, and support from the regional government, Perbekel Desa Pengejaran together with the Wana Arta Forest Management Institute plan to form a Honey Bee Cultivation Center in Pursuit Village. To realize this, students will implement other programs, namely building 100 honey bee houses, procuring honey press machines, procuring a suit, and other tools to support personal hygiene. There is also a program for packaging honey bee products, packaging products, and marketing honey bee products through social media and the marketplace.
